The FBL is a full year program. To best prepare all our FBL athletes a chance to earn squad selection and provide them with as much opportunity to be successful through hard work, discipline, respect and honour. With stronger self confidence, prepare them for the real world and to be positive contributors in our community.
FBL Format: Players selected into the FBL will train every SAT afternoon throughout 2024. Each Saturday is split into two sessions for two separate groups:
Each session is from 12pm 330pm
The year will be divided into 4 terms and in line with NSW schools education terms.
FBL Selection Process: Trial dates are set DEC and following JAN. Our FBL camp and combine will place each athlete through certain drills and exercises to set down a base and be a foundation for growth. Attributes here not only measure the accuracy, strength and speed but gauge coachability, team focus, basketball IQ and attitude.
T1 and T2: Comprising of 10 week training and development during the school term. Followed by 2 weeks of Round Robin Competition through the School Holidays. The first two terms are to prepare players for the FBL competition in T3.
T3: will still be split as per below in preparation FBL comp in the latter half.
First 3 weeks for team training. Its here we will hold the FBL DRAFT where each coach will select their teams in preparation for T3 competition.
FBL comp over 6 weeks (during Week 4-9) comp weekends. Top eight teams to compete in a seeded knockout phase before the start Spring School Holidays. Tour team selection process end of T3.
T4: will revert back to a 10 week training and development camp during school term. Our final prep term for tour team. FBL will use this term to draft up reserves and provide feedback for players wanting to continue the FBL journey into the following year.
Squad Selection Tour Dates:
Two of the weeks at the end of the year will be going to the USA with 05DEC or 14DEC – 21DEC being the proposed dates. We will advise the FBL players directly the US Tour Itinerary.
Each player must register with Triple Threat Basketball Academy, Thoro Basketball Academy or The Fitness Safehouse to be eligible for any make up classes players may miss during term.
For players who missed out on selection into the FBL, we suggest in signing up to any of the Basketball training programs affiliated with the Futures so you may work on and build areas in your game that need attention to.
